Terrorist Screening Center – 9/11 Memorial
Vienna, Virginia

Structura was proud to be a part of the team that brought the recently dedicated 9/11 Memorial to the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) facility in Vienna, Virginia.

The memorial is comprised of several artifacts salvaged from the World Trade Center site, including a 10ft long column section from the North Tower’s upper floors adjacent to the airplane impact and a section of rooftop antenna from the North Tower. The signature artifact is the 45 foot ‘trident’ that now stands proudly near the rear entrance of the TSC facility. The trident, identified as artifact E-0016, 7th Floor, location 227A from the North Tower by the Port Authority of NY & NJ, weighs approximately 52,000 lbs and served as a prominent and recognizable member of the building both architecturally and structurally. The project also included the refurbishment of three 60 foot flagpoles recovered from the WTC site. The flagpoles, still showing dents and scratches from the 9/11 event, are situated to cast shadows on symbolic memorial elements every 9/11 at the specific times of the terrorist attacks. Together the display of the artifacts honor the heroism and sacrifice of the victims, survivors, responders, and families affected by the 9/11 events.
