Fort Ellsworth Condominium
Alexandria, VA
The Fort Ellsworth Condominium consists of five seperate four-story garden style structures built around 1973. The buildings utilize brick masonry walls with a CMU back-up to support a flooring system comprised of precast concrete hollow core planks.
SRG was originally retained to perform an investigation and condition survey, which included a visual survey of the buildings' facades and a number of condominium units to investigate masonry distress and bulging. SRG then developed an exterior facade and foundation restoration program including the installation of helical piers, rebuilding of displaced exterior masonry walls, and installation of shelf angles, dowels, and carbon fiber reinforcing strips to restore the concrete plank floor system. SRG also performed contract administration and construction observation/inspection services for this project.
