1630 R Street
Washington, DC

1630 R Street is a historic eight-story masonry and concrete structure that was built in the 1920's. The building features ornate limestone elements and a red clay brick masonry facade. Historic preservation restrictions required review and acceptance of all repair work.

SRG was retained to survey the facade and establish the scope of repair work necessary to extend the serviceable life of the building and minimize future maintenance. SRG conducted a visual examination of the exterior brick masonry walls. SRG then prepared a repair design and bidding document to address the stabilization or replacement of damaged or distorted masonry, the removal and replacement of steel window lintels, and the rehabilitation of lime stone elements and wall cavity flashings.

SRG was then authorized by the owner to solicit pricing for the scope of repair work described above in several bidding phases and to provide construction observation services for this project.
