The Cone Health Women’s Center Reinventing Care – Clinical Reconfiguration involved integrating an existing facility from another campus into this new location. This project features a six-story addition to the existing hospital, totaling approximately 185K SF. The structural system uses a conventionally reinforced concrete flat plate and concrete shear walls, with substantial work required to relocate existing utilities beneath the new footprint.
Initially started as an RFP, the project later transitioned to an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model, with 11 signatories to the main contract, including the owner, architects, engineers, general contractor, and key subcontractors, all with profits at risk to meet a target cost capped at $98M.
