In early 2017, the DC Water Headquarters underwent an extensive renovation which involved the partial demolition of the existing concrete roof framing. The building below remained operational during this renovation which required a specialized temporary shoring and bracing plan to facilitate the structural demolition. Structura developed precise structural demolition sequencing, prepared temporary shoring and bracing drawings, and analyzed the existing concrete structure to allow for the support of the temporary shoring loads. This temporary shoring and bracing design was crucial to the project’s schedule and the space below the work are was off-limits and remained operational providing the city with fresh drinking water.  Structura operated as the Contractor’s design engineer for the project and prepared shoring drawings along with a formal calculation package for submission of the engineer of record.
