Bold and eclectic, Lucky Buns’ newest location brings a classic neighborhood bar and burger restaurant to Phase 2 of DC’s waterfront neighborhood, The Wharf. Chef and Co-owner Alex McCoy, a lifelong Washingtonian, Food Network personality and the creative mind behind some of the city’s most beloved eateries, engaged //3877 to spearhead the architecture and design of his first new-build restaurant. Referencing ‘70s-era burger joints with a hint of dive bar flavor, the space is fun and approachable, well-designed but not overdone.
Structura was honored to collaborate with //3877 on the buildout of this first generation space. Scope of work included designing a new mechanical platform (~300 SF at 12’ AFF) supported by non-suspended structural framing and providing analysis/support for the installation of a new kitchen and MEP equipment, adding structural heading supports for a new aluminum sliding glass wall system (~19’-10”W x 12’-2”H) across the storefront to capitalize on the seamless waterfront views of #DC's Washington Channel and indoor/outdoor connectivity, plus providing design/detailing for a new free-standing wood patio structure with polycarbonate panel roofing (~46’Lx 14’W) to offer al fresco dining in all seasons.
