Located at 17th and Marshall Streets in the building that once housed the Richmond Cold Storage Company, Atrium Lofts provide luxurious yet affordable living in Richmond’s historic and vibrant Shockoe Bottom neighborhood. As the project’s structural engineer, Structura worked closely with SWA Construction and sub-contractors to develop precise restoration strategies for the original building which was severely deteriorated.

Structura recommended significant repairs to the building’s structure , including adequately securing the façade to the existing structure and installing new mezzanine levels in existing two-story spaces where all of the original cooling equipment was housed. Structura also restored an existing pedestrian bridge between two buildings and designed new slide-bearing end connections to allow the buildings to move independently of one another. Several holes were also cut in the existing floors to allow for proper vertical circulation.
