Erickson Senior Living, a national leader in developing and managing continuing care retirement communities, announced the groundbreaking of Oxford Hills, its newest community in Clarksville, Maryland. Situated on approximately 62 scenic acres along Route 108, Oxford Hills meets the growing demand for high-quality senior living, providing a vibrant new community enriched with modern amenities and thoughtful, future-ready design.
Designed to reflect the region's rural character and natural landscape, Oxford Hills is approved for more than 1,000 independent living residences at full build-out, in alignment with demand. Plans call for multiple common buildings, expansive outdoor amenities, modern dining venues, fitness and aquatics facilities, walking paths, and abundant natural views.
“This groundbreaking marks an important milestone as we begin building a community where seniors can thrive,” said Alan Butler, chief executive officer of Erickson Senior Living. “From thoughtfully designed residences to engaging public amenities, Oxford Hills reflects our commitment to providing opportunities for connection, well-being, and peace of mind for seniors and their families.”
Oxford Hills will feature three vibrant common areas offering a mix of dining venues, social spaces, fitness and wellness centers, arts and education rooms, and outdoor terraces. Residential buildings will incorporate a modern farmhouse aesthetic that honors the traditional vernacular of rural Howard County while embracing contemporary design.
The community’s first phase will include:
- Independent living residences with under-building parking
- Multiple dining venues, including casual, formal, and outdoor options
- An indoor pool and state-of-the-art fitness center
- Outdoor gathering areas
- A robust mix of creative arts, games, classrooms, and social spaces
With construction now underway, Erickson Senior Living expects to open the Oxford Hills sales center this fall and to welcome its first residents in late 2028. Additional phases, including future assisted living and continuing care neighborhoods, will be introduced in alignment with community demand.
