Project Description
Structura worked closely with Streetsense Architecture Studio to provide structural engineering services for the tenant improvements at a newly constructed, single-story building in North Bethesda, MD, designed for a Honeygrow restaurant. As the structural engineer of record, Structura's scope of work involved several key elements to ensure the building could support the specific needs of the restaurant’s operations.
Our team conducted a thorough analysis of the existing structure to evaluate its capacity to support the installation of new kitchen equipment. This included the design and structural support for two ceiling-hung kitchen hoods, a new transformer, as well as several HVAC units, including RTUs (roof-top units), MUA (make-up air) units, and exhaust fans. In addition to these structural modifications, Structura provided design services for the installation of a new slab on grade, which required careful coordination with the existing slab to ensure proper tie-in and structural continuity.
Throughout the process, Structura collaborated closely with Streetsense and the other project stakeholders to ensure that the structural system met the restaurant's operational requirements while complying with local codes and maintaining safety and functionality. This work was critical to enabling Honeygrow to create a vibrant and fully functional dining space, with all mechanical and structural systems seamlessly integrated.
