Project Description
Structura proudly served as the structural engineer of record for The Service Center, a new mixed-use residential building in Baltimore’s Remington community, developed by Seawall and designed alongside JP2 Architects. This innovative six-story structure features two levels of robust concrete framing supporting four levels of efficient wood construction. The ground floor accommodates light industrial and commercial spaces, the second floor offers residential amenities and tenant offices, and the upper floors house residential units—some with exclusive walk-out terraces.
Our deep expertise significantly elevated project outcomes by tackling complex challenges head-on. We adeptly addressed the site’s sloping topography with strategic slab-on-grade steps, ensuring a seamless foundation that optimized both stability and cost-effectiveness. Structura’s precision engineering shone in designing critical structural components—egress stairs, elevator cores, and a loading dock platform lift—enhancing safety, accessibility, and functionality. By integrating these solutions, we streamlined construction, reduced potential delays, and delivered a resilient, adaptable design that aligned perfectly with JP2’s vision for a dynamic, community-focused space.
