Prior to moving into 21,704 SF on two floors at Chevy Chase Pavilion, Swedish fashion chain H&M wanted a dramatic renovation of the space which had been occupied previously by Pottery Barn. Structura was retained to address major structural modifications surrounding the infill of several large floor openings. The modification of an existing floor opening allowed for a new monumental stair and the introduction of various shafts and penetrations to the existing slab.

The property was undergoing several simultaneous renovations which forced Structura to work under a compressed design schedule. To maximize time, Structura had to creatively assess the differences between the base drawings and actual existing conditions. Additionally, Structura coordinated added underslab structural reinforcements with the occupied space below, which includes office space, mechanical/electrical rooms and a parking garage.
