Friends of Patterson Park's White House & Cedar House Win 2025 Baltimore Heritage Historic Preservation Award

BALTIMORE, MD – We're proud to announce that the Friends of Patterson Park White House & Cedar House project has been honored with the 2025 Baltimore Heritage Historic Preservation Award. This prestigious recognition celebrates projects that preserve the city’s rich history while enhancing its community spaces. In collaboration with PI.KL Studio, our team helped transform the historic Caretaker’s House and introduced a new 2,200 SF wood-framed office and visitor’s center, creating a vibrant hub.

Project scope included upgrading the existing building while designing a new 2,200 SF wood-framed structure to serve as an office and visitor’s center. The design incorporated new beams, posts, and wood framing supports, all founded on shallow footings to preserve the site’s natural soils. Our engineering process began with a detailed site visit and structural assessment to ensure upgrades to the existing building preserved historic integrity while meeting contemporary standards. Using dimensional and engineered lumber, we crafted a robust framework for the new visitor’s center, enhancing accessibility and fostering community engagement. The result is a welcoming space that honors Patterson Park’s legacy while serving as a modern hub for park activities.
The Baltimore Heritage Historic Preservation Awards recognize projects that thoughtfully blend preservation with innovation, and we’re honored to share this achievement with PI.KL Studio and their teaming partners.
