ORANGEBURG, SC (WOLO) — Not all parents find that ‘one size fits all’ for their child’s education.

Soon, parents in Orangeburg County and the surrounding areas will have another option for their child’s elementary school.

Tuesday morning, the Willie Jeffries School of Excellence broke ground on an innovative charter school that will be built on Five Chop Road.

The school is named after the former South Carolina State football coach and offers a public, tuition-free education that is tailored towards different styles of learners.

The school will begin by offering kindergarten through 6th grade and will eventually expand to include 7th and 8th grades.

Phase One begins this fall school year where students will learn in modular classrooms while the full school building is going up to complete Phase Two. The school’s campus will be located on Five Chop Road.
