The Claire is a modern 6-story, 26-unit multi-family residence built on the combined properties at 4111 and 4113 Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington, DC’s Van Ness neighborhood, replacing two mid-block 1940s rowhomes. As the Structural Engineer of Record, Structura collaborated with Bonstra | Haresign to deliver a sophisticated design with a focus on structural integrity and modern functionality.

Structura’s scope included demolition, design development, and construction support, ensuring the building’s structural systems could support its innovative design features. These included a striking masonry and glass façade with high-efficiency window walls and operable panels, a floor-to-ceiling windowed interior courtyard, private penthouse roof terraces, and a shared roof deck with elevator access for all residents. The project successfully blended contemporary design with functional, sustainable features, and Structura’s expertise was essential in ensuring its seamless execution from concept through construction.
