Tenant Improvements

Moses Cone Hospital - North Tower is a six-story addition developed to accommodate 225K SF for patient care, featuring a structural system of conventionally reinforced poured-in-place concrete with beams and girders on the column grids only, and a large interstitial space above the operating room suite level was designed for future hybrid OR flex space. The roof included extensive penthouses and solar panels integrated with mechanical utility raceways, but the biggest challenge for this project was designing the six-story connector from the new construction back to the existing patient floors. To achieve this, FEG's team proposed a solution for new columns to be threaded through occupied spaces below and designed with new foundations capable of handling the wind and seismic lateral loads. There was also extensive work to modify the existing building structure at the construction interface.
