Structura was proud to collaborate with MV+A Architects and Brookfield Properties on the design and construction of Block F and The Edmund, the inaugural phases of the transformative Halley Rise development in Reston, VA. As the foundation for this vibrant, multi-phase community, the project features two levels of underground parking accommodating approximately 520 vehicles, a six-level precast concrete parking garage for 435 cars, 110K SF of ground-level retail space—including a new Wegmans location—and 380 residential units. Together, the total development spans approximately 760K SF, excluding the precast garage.

Project scope included providing comprehensive structural design services to support the complex below-grade parking structure, ensuring its seamless integration with the surrounding residential and commercial components, plus engineering the structural framework for the precast parking garage and collaborating closely with the design team to align the retail and residential spaces into a cohesive and efficient design.

Our team also proudly delivered comprehensive structural engineering services for the successful buildout of the new ground floor Wegmans store, providing a detailed review and analysis of proposed drilled core locations and leveraging advanced structural assessments to ensure precision and safety. We meticulously evaluated third-party scan data to confirm the structural acceptability of proposed modifications, safeguarding the integrity of the base building. Additionally, we conducted an in-depth evaluation of proposed equipment and fixture placements, ensuring seamless compatibility with the existing structural framework. Where conflicts arose, our team provided expert recommendations for alternative placements, optimizing functionality while maintaining structural stability. Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with the design and construction teams, delivering tailored solutions to meet the unique demands of this high-profile retail development, ensuring a robust and efficient buildout that aligns with Wegmans’ operational requirements and the project’s architectural vision.
